Sapa is an incredibly picturesque town that lies in the Hoang Lien Son mountain range near the Chinese border in northwestern Vietnam, known as "the Tonkinese Alps". Sapa and its surrounding region is host to many hill tribes, as well as rice terraces, lush vegetation, and Fansipan, the highest peak in Vietnam.&nbsp;

Bac Ha is famous for its colorful Sunday market, where you can find various ethnic minorities, such as the Flower Hmong, displaying their traditional clothing, handicrafts, and fresh produce.&nbsp;

Located across the Muong Hoa Valley from Vietnam's highest mountain, Fansipan, the city is sometimes referred to as the "queen of mountains". Lao Cai has many historical sites, natural caves and produces agricultural specialties such as Bac Ha plums.&nbsp;

This small market, 20km north of Bac Ha, attracts a growing number of visitors. Some tours from Sapa now visit Can Cau on Saturday before moving on to Bac Ha for the Sunday market. A few Bac Ha stallholders also make the journey to Can Cau on Saturdays.&nbsp;

Muong Khuong Market is located close to the border of trade with China, so the market also has a large number of items originating from China, diverse designs, consumer goods, food, machines, labor tools, etc. It also sells a myriad of cardamom, medicinal herbs, etc.&nbsp;

Bat Xat is another district in Lao Cai that offers beautiful landscapes and the opportunity to interact with various ethnic minorities. It's also known for the Lung Po flagpole, marking the northernmost point of Vietnam.&nbsp;

The Park contains Viet Nam's highest mountain, Phan Xi Pang or Fansipan, which has an elevation of 3,142 meters above sea level. The lowest point is 380 meters but most of the nature reserve lies above 1,000 meters. The flanks of the mountains are very steep and many areas are inaccessible.&nbsp;

Lao Cai International Border Gate - Ha Khau is one of three international border gates, which are important in economic and trade exchanges across the land border between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the People's Republic of China.&nbsp;

Lao Cai is a city in the Northwest region of Vietnam. It is the capital of Lào Cai Province. The city borders Bảo Thắng District, Bát Xát District, Sa Pa and the city of Hekou Yao Autonomous County, in Yunnan province of southwest China.
